“The global political right is intensifying its actions against the people without regard for the consequences of this path. The mission of our time is to save humanity from war and fascism,” said ALBA-TCP Secretary Rander Peña, who also serves as the coordinator of the Antifascist International.

He emphasized that the resurgence of far-right movements and parties around the world is a manifestation of decaying imperialism, which is acting more aggressively to preserve its privileges in Latin America and the Middle East.

At the Caracas summit, participants will analyze the rise of fascism and define a concrete action plan enabling peoples of the world to resist and advance in the face of the conservative offensive.

The text reads, “They have not been able to subdue us. On the contrary, they have strengthened us,” FM Yvan Gil emphasized during his speech at the People’s Summit for Peace and Against War, where he referred to the constant blockades, attacks, and aggressions perpetrated against Venezuela and its people.

“It’s not enough to watch how we’re being attacked. We must step forward and fight back,” Peña said, taking the opportunity to highlight to international delegates that Venezuela is consolidating a distinctly popular, participatory, and protagonistic model of democracy.

“In Venezuela, we don’t see democracy as an event taking place every four or five years when we’re called to elect someone. We understand democracy as a daily practice led by our people. We are proud that the entire world can come witness this democratic exercise during the July 27 elections,” Peña said.

To further illustrate what Venezuelan democracy represents, the ALBA-TCP secretary explained that the “Communal Circuits” embody a new type of full-time democracy.

For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil urged world leaders to begin a genuine peace process. He highlighted the economic and social progress of Venezuela, a country subject to hundreds of arbitrary sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

In addition to celebrating the resilience of the Bolivarian people, Gil reaffirmed that the Bolivarian nation has the morale to convene anti-fascist groups. “May this summit generate a greater organization so that we can fight the beautiful battles and achieve the beautiful victories that await us as free peoples of the world,” the Venezuelan diplomat concluded.
